Sexual rights and integration

Being familiar with societal norms and customs related to sexuality and gender roles is important for integration. Understanding helps to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and conflicts and makes it easier to act in Finnish social environments. Additionally, being familiar with terminology relating to sexuality and sexual health helps to promote health and wellbeing.

Finland adheres to international agreements on human rights and children’s rights. These rights include sexual rights. Adequate information on sexual health and sexuality is a human right articulated in various international agreements. Sexual education is required by all, irrespective of background.
